About PadLoop
A music-making app for your phone, built by a small team in Spain. Here are the facts: requirements, permissions, where your audio is processed and where the sounds come from.
Get PadLoopWho makes PadLoop
PadLoop is developed and published by Positive Vibration SLU, a small Spanish company based in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), CIF B76273051. No investors, no ads: the app is funded by one purchase from the people who use it. For anything at all: [email protected].
Where your audio is processed
It's the most important question for a music app, so here is a precise answer:
- Everything you play, record, import or create stays on your phone, in the app's private storage: microphone recordings, sounds captured from other apps or from a video, split songs, banks, projects, performances.
- Song splitting happens on the phone. The Stem split plugin contains the model that separates vocals, drums, bass and the rest; the track is never uploaded anywhere and splitting works offline.
- No server of ours receives your audio. Files leave your phone only when you export or share them, or through your phone's own backup and transfer features.
- Plugins are downloaded from Google Play or the App Store, not from our servers.
What is sent instead: usage statistics, only if you answer Yes to the first-launch question (tied to an installation identifier, not to your name); crash reports, on by default and without any audio or content of yours, which you can turn off in MORE; on Android, a one-way (hashed) fingerprint of the device identifier so the trial counts only once. Full details are in the privacy policy.

Permissions, one by one
- Microphone: only when you tap a record button, never on its own. A recording in progress can continue with the screen off, with a visible notification on Android.
- Audio from other apps (Android 10+): the screen-capture permission is used for audio only, after you confirm the system dialog; no images are captured.
- Photos and videos: only the video you pick is opened, to take its sound on the phone.
- Bluetooth: only to find MIDI keyboards and controllers when you start a search. On Android 11 and older the system calls it "location", but PadLoop does not read your location.
- Notifications (Android): only for the notification that keeps audio alive with the screen off.
Where the sounds come from
- Drums in the Trap and House banks: CC0 sounds (no rights reserved), some from Edward Loveall's TR-808 recordings.
- Studio bank, 808s, basses and stabs: synthesized for PadLoop.
- Sound library and plugin kits: generated for PadLoop with commercial usage rights.
- Plugin instruments (piano, marimba, vibraphone, strings, winds): University of Iowa Musical Instrument Samples, free to use.
- Song splitting: Deezer's Spleeter model, MIT license.
You can use all included sounds in your music, published too. The full rules are in the terms of use.

Questions about the app and your data
Does PadLoop upload my recordings to a server?
No. Recordings, samples, split songs and projects stay in the app's private storage on your phone. They only leave it when you export or share them yourself.
Is song splitting done online?
No. The Stem split plugin contains the model that separates the parts and runs on the phone, even offline. You only need internet once, to download the plugin.
Do I need an account?
No. PadLoop has no account and no sign-up: open the app and play.
Are there ads or tracking?
No ads at all. Usage statistics only start if you answer Yes to the first-launch question; crash reports are on by default. You can turn both off any time in MORE.
Which phones does it run on?
Android 7 or later and iPhone with iOS 15 or later. Splitting a song needs at least 3 GB of RAM on Android and 4 GB on iPhone.
