The Techno Ready beat, already at 128 BPM: one tap loads it, it starts, and the pads on top are already in tune

Fifteen seconds of music, start to finish

  1. Open the PAD tab, tap ⊞ (where banks and Ready beats live) and choose Ready beats: the ► next to each name lets you hear it before loading.
  2. To keep the math easy, tap Techno, which is already at 128 BPM, or load House (122 BPM) and set the BPM to 128 by tapping it in the top bar.
  3. Press ► at the top: at 128 BPM the Ready beat lasts 2 bars, which is 3.75 seconds, and loops by itself.
  4. In the LOOP tab tap Export, choose MP3 and 4 repetitions: you get exactly 15 seconds.
  5. Open your video editor and add the file as the music under your footage.

A bar is a group of four beats: 1, 2, 3, 4. The 18 classic Ready beats are 2 bars long (the 6 complete ones 4), and the tempo decides how many seconds that is.

Loading Ready beats and exporting the result belong to the full version: a soundtrack for your next video, made by you. You get both free for 7 days, so you can start right away.

Make the 15 seconds for your next video with the Techno beat: loading Ready beats and exporting are included in the 7-day trial. On iPhone: in MORE tap the top row, then Start the free trial. It costs nothing and does not renew.

How long is the beat? One line of math

A bar lasts 240 divided by the BPM, in seconds. That's all you need to pick the right tempo for your clip.

BPM Ready beat (2 bars) Exported with 4 repetitions 8-bar loop, 2 repetitions
90 5.3 s 21.3 s 42.7 s
120 4 s 16 s 32 s
128 3.75 s 15 s 30 s
140 3.4 s 13.7 s 27.4 s

For 30 seconds or more you need a longer loop: record an 8-bar track over the beat, or tap x2 twice, the button on the track row that doubles a recorded loop: 2 bars become 4, then 8 (it goes up to 16).

Change the tempo by tapping the BPM (40 to 220) or tap the beat on TAP. A beat written at 122 BPM gets to 128 without losing its character.

Changing the tempo of a House beat while it plays: with the slider and with TAP
Transcript
  1. 0:00 Change the tempo while the beat plays
  2. 0:02 A House beat is playing
  3. 0:05 Tap the tempo at the top: the slider opens
  4. 0:07 Drag left: slower, and the beat follows right away
  5. 0:13 To the right: faster
  6. 0:17 TAP: beat the tempo with your finger and the beat takes it
  7. 0:24 Your recorded pad loops follow the new tempo

Cut on the beat: at 120 BPM one beat lasts half a second. Cut your scenes every 2 or 4 beats and the pictures change in time with the music.

Add something of your own

A Ready beat on its own is already a full track. Making it yours takes two minutes:

  • A melody in key. Turn on the Keyboard (the piano button): one sound spreads across the 16 pads in a scale, and every note fits the beat.
  • An extra layer. Tap track 3 in the top bar (each number is a track, one layer of the piece), press REC and play the pads: what you play joins the loop (tracks beyond 2 come with the full version). A layer you don't like? The ↶ arrow wipes the latest one and leaves the rest.
  • A big transition. Tap the bolt (the button for hold-down effects) and, right before the scene change, keep a finger on Filter down.

Prefer to start from scratch? Your first beat in 5 minutes is the easiest place to begin, and how to make beats on your phone walks through every step.

MP3, WAV or a live performance?

In the LOOP tab, Export turns your loops into an audio file. Pick the format and the repetitions, then save the file or send it wherever you want.

Exporting a beat: MP3, WAV or separate tracks, then 1, 2 or 4 repeats
Transcript
  1. 0:00 Export your track
  2. 0:02 Your track is ready (here a Funk Ready beat)
  3. 0:04 LOOP tab: your tracks, then Export
  4. 0:10 Pick the format: MP3, WAV or separate tracks
  5. 0:11 How many times to repeat the loop: 1, 2 or 4
  6. 0:13 Done: share the file or save it wherever you like
  • MP3: the lightest file, fine for most video editors.
  • WAV: full quality, if you'll keep working on the audio.
  • Separate tracks: one WAV per track in a zip, so you can tuck the drums under your voice while editing.
  • Record performance: captures what you play live as a WAV, effects included, up to 30 minutes.

Export and Record performance are full-version features, open during the trial.

How to put it under your video

The rest happens in the video editor you already use:

  • import the video and add the audio file as music or an audio track
  • line up the start of the beat with the first cut
  • if you talk in the video, turn the music down under your voice

If the beat is as long as the video, there's nothing to trim: they end together, with no musical phrase chopped in half.

Can I post the music I make?

The beat you make is yours: projects, recordings and exports stay on your phone. According to the terms of use, the sounds in the Sound library, the Ready banks, the Ready beats and the plugin sounds can be used in your own music, published music included. You cannot redistribute them as standalone sounds, for example as a sample pack.

Sounds taken from other people's songs or videos are a different story: fine for practice, but publishing needs the rights. Your own voice, or things around the house you sample, are your sounds.

Good to know

  • Want the hold-down effects in the file? Use Record performance: export gives you a clean file, without the effects you hold down or the master effects in MORE. Lo-fi and Filter adjusted inside a pad, though, do make it into the export.
  • A pad you want in the export? Set it to One-shot (one tap, one hit) and record it on a track. Anything cycling by itself on Loop is only captured by Record performance.

Export a beat as long as your Reel and drop it under the footage: once the trial ends, one purchase keeps it all, no subscription. On iPhone: in MORE tap the top row, then Start the free trial. It costs nothing and does not renew.

Questions about music for videos

How do I make my own music for TikTok videos?

With PadLoop you make it on your phone: load a Ready beat, play the pads on top if you like, and export an MP3 or WAV as long as your video. Then add it as music in your editor.

How do I make a beat exactly 15 or 30 seconds long?

At 128 BPM a Ready beat lasts 2 bars, or 3.75 seconds: exported with 4 repetitions it's exactly 15 seconds. For 30 seconds, tap x2 twice (2 to 4, then 8 bars) and export with 2 repetitions.

Can I use PadLoop sounds in videos I post?

Yes: under the terms of use, the Sound library, Ready banks, Ready beats and plugin sounds are fine in your own music, published music included. You cannot redistribute them as standalone sounds. Sounds taken from other people's songs or videos need their rights.

What file format do I get?

MP3 or WAV, with 1, 2 or 4 repetitions of the loop. Separate tracks gives you one WAV per track in a zip. Record performance saves what you play live as a WAV, up to 30 minutes.

Do I need to know how to play?

No. The Ready beats already have drums, bass and music recorded: load one, press ► and the beat is there. If you want to add something, the Keyboard puts every sound in a scale, so there are no wrong notes.

Is it free?

Listening to the Ready beats is always free. Loading them and exporting are part of the full version, a single purchase with no subscription: a beat under your video and a file to drop into the editor. Both are included in the 7-day trial.
